I know R & H wrote it for S of M, but has Edelweiss been 'adopted' by Austria in much the same way as Kansas adopted "Home On the Range," and Tennessee adopted "Tennessee Waltz." Several people, including at least one from Austria, that the song has that kind of special significance in Austria.
