Well, it went very well. I enjoyed the gig and the audience seemed to enjoy it too. I did a variety of songs ranging from rousing "pub" type songs like "Mick Maguire" and "The Jolly Tinker" to very pensive ones like "The Quiet Land of Erin". One of my favorites, and it was kind of neat to be singing up in DC was "The Four Mary's". It seemed so appropriate, what with all the political scandals that have gone on - to do the song about Mary Queen of Scot's lady in waiting who caused a big scandal by getting pregnant by the Queen's then husband - (Lord Darnley, I think)- then drowned the baby and was hanged. Oh I know there's no historical evidence for it but it's a good story anyway. And the audience loved the song!
