Brendy,

The words as best I recall them

Delia was a gambling girl
Gambled all around
Delia, a gambling girl
Laid her body down

And all the Friends
I ever had are gone

Delia, Delia
Gona ask around
High Sherrif he came by
Shot her to the ground

And...

Delia, Delia
Made a lunge to run
High Sherriff shot her down
Great big gattlin gun

Delias' mother weep
Delias' father moan
They wouldn't hate it so bad
If their child died at home

Rubber tyred carrage
rubber tyred hack
dun taken old po' Delia
Never bring her back

Men in Atlanta
Trying to pass for white
Delias in the grave-yard
Six feet out of sight

Delia, Delia
How could it be
Wanted everyone around you
Never wanted me

And all the friends
I ever had are gone.

Hope that's some help

Memory is a funny thing, I went to a folk club recently and someone sang a verson of The cruel Ships Captain which was different to a version I had learnt 30 years ago. All the way home I tried to recall the words but could only get the first and last verses. In the middle of the night (with my brain in neutral I guess) I woke up and could recall it word for word.
