A friend who grew up in Massachusetts but lived in France for a time tells of how she would ask people to repeat something they'd said by saying, "Repetez, s'il vous plait" (the first two e's should have an accent aigu, but I don't know how to do it). Only she pronounced it wrong (without the accents), and she later found out she'd been asking them to "Fart again, please!" It's now a standing joke with her bilingual children.
