Thread Name: Req: Jodie I'll show you the Van Gogh Museum
Subject: jodie
Dear people at Mudcat,

I hope that you'd be willing to help me in a search for a song which has cost me a considerable amount of nerves, as I have not been able to identify it, and neither could anybody else I asked.

I heard the song in question at the end of 1986/beginning of 1987 while studying in Liverpool on the radio in a folk rock program.

Features: male voice, a bit hoarse, a bit fragile, like a baritone Nick Drake, very serious, downcast, only guitar for accompiment

Here are some snatches of the lyrics:

it begins with

"tongue-tied and starry-eyed, and here I go again"

the chorus goes like this:

"Jodie (?), I'll show you the van Gogh-Museum and I' paint your picture on every screen"

If you could help me to identify the song and the singer, or tell me who could help me do so, I'd be over the moon.

Lots of thanks in advance,

yours,
