I am beginning to think there is a largely unbridgable divide between singers and instrumentalists analogous to C. P. Snow's "Two Cultures" of science and the humanities. Certainly there are a few people who are able and comfortable to work in both cultures, but the majority seem hopelessly divided between one or the other. Is that too negative a view, or is there a middle ground?
