The world has not had serious trouble with Japan and Germany since constitutional democracy was forced upon them. Maybe we should do the same to Iran, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. It'll hurt in the short run, but once those people start getting a taste of property and human rights, they won't want to go back.
