You won't get any argument from me if you say that Bin Laden is a dangerous fanatic, Doug. I was just trying to offer a long range philosophical solution for the world in a general sense, not offering advice on how to deal with specific criminal acts. Every movement, even Communist revolution, finds a few wealthy in the ranks...such is human idealism. Castro's family was quite well off.

Jack - We didn't force constitutional democracy on the Germans. They had had it for some time prior to the Nazis winning an election there. We forced defeat on them, and provided the conditions where (in the West, at least) they could re-institute constitutional democracy. As for the Japanese, again, we forced defeat upon them, whereupon they gave up on a war policy and entirely willingly set up a constitutional democracy. They were, at that point, utterly disillusioned with military expansionist government.

Just nitpicking...I know what you meant. :-)
