What I'm getting at is this - the most effective missionaries I have ever seen, and seen in action, simply live among the people they are witnessing to, helping them when they can and living a righteous life. Eventually, people come to THEM to learn more about this wonderful religion.

This is how St. Nina ("Equal to the Apostles") "evangelized" the nation of Georgia in the 9th century, and how St. Herman "evangelized" the natives on Spruce Island, Alaska in the 19th.

I hope one wouldn't say that the Russians gained nothing in professing Christianity in the 10th century, nor that their culture was disappeared or subverted to that of the Byzantines. The history of the Russian nation belies such a belief.

In contrast the most strident "evangelists" in the 20th century were the Marxist-Leninists. Now there is evangelism by terrorism. Literally.
