The same lyrics as given in the link above are in Peter Kennedy's "Songs of Britain and Ireland", along with complete translation and sheet-music notation (the link gives ABC). Reference notes state that the song was composed by Peadar Breatnach of Ballinamore, Glenfinn for a woman he met at a pub in Arranmore Island. Maighread N¡ Dhomhnaill recorded this song not too long back. And according to an earlier Mudcat thread, it's also been recorded by Scottish group Capercaillie.
