Thanks, Masato: Before I'm buried in the graveyard, maybe I'll decide to learn to read music.. Actually, I know how. I just find myself resisting, I guess, because it is impossible to reduce human emotions, voices and inflections down to dots on a page. Still glad that we have the musical notation though. Many years ago, I learned a version of Cryderville Jail from one of the Lomax folksong books. When I sang it for a friend of mine, Dave Van Ronk, he relaly liked it and asked wherre I got it. When I told him, he said, "That's not what it sounds like in my book" Maybe reading music badly isn't such a handicap, after all.
