Les: Sorry I have never mastered the art of posting lyrics, so I hope you can figure them out. I never have been asked to post lyrics before and it took me a bit by surprise.

As you can see, the song was pretty well "thrown together" and is a short piece. The music industry was pressed to come up with some patriotic songs very quickly in those days. The same lyrics were sung twice on the record as I remember it. Here they are:

When the Yanks raised the stars and strips on Iwo Jima Isle, through the blood and tears they won through; Bless the heart of each Yankee there on Iwo Jima Isle, resting 'neith a blanket of blue.

DougR High on the hill of Surabachi waves old Glory and she always will. When the Yanks raised the Stars and Strips on Iwo Jima Isle there were tears in their hearts and so they smiled.
