Looking for a certain version (could not find in data base) of the hunter coming home to find his hound (greyhound in this case) home before him, door open, blood all over and no baby in the cradle - he runs the dog through with his sword believeing him to have murdered his son and then hears the whimper of the healthy baby under a pile of bedclothes and a dead fox in the mess. He is heart-broken that he ever doubted his most trusted hound and builds a monument to the grey. I have heard of american versions of this but believe the one I seek, which I read ages ago in an old ballad collection is english. It was quite the tear jerker. Now that I have greyhounds - I'm hankering to acquire the lyrics to this particular ballad.PS - also still searching for lyrics to Jane McWilliams (baby murder by drowning at mother's hand)!
Thank you so much -
