On our last trip to Illinois, Mister and I stopped at Arcola, at a place called... oh heck... I think it was The Dutch Oven. It was Dutch something, anyway, and right downtown. Biscuits to die for, and they serve this Amish-made sausage. While we were on vacation last summer we had breakfast at a little place in Jamestown, VA called the Old Chickahominy House. They only serve breakfast and lunch, if I remember right. Anyway, they make flat biscuits, that are like little pockets. I had never seen or heard of anything like that before. But man o man, were they ever GOOOOOOOOOOD.
I have to admit, I'm partial to Cracker Barrel. There's usually one wherever you go, at least in the Southeast. And Bob mentioned Applebees - same thing. If you're in a strange place and nothing local strikes your fancy, you can always count on Applebees.
Course, the reason we found the place in Arcola was because the Cracker Barrel in Mattoon had closed.
