In that '64 season, I was still growing up in Montreal, and of course there were no Expos, and no Bluejays, so I was a rabid Yankees fan.....but some current (at the time) and former Phillies were high on my list of sad heroes. Names like Curt Simmons (missing finger) Robin Roberts (missing run support) Richie Ashburn (missing power) Eddie Waitkus (missing life) and Gene Mauch (missing Pennant)

I WANTED to root for the Phils, but we couldn't get the games on our radio. We DID get Mel Allen loud and clear though, so that's how loyalties get started.
