Y'know, the weird thing is that the "Graeme Gass Effect", as we have come to know it, can strike even at long distance. This effect has been observed whenever Graeme comes into close proximity with ordinary matter, people or events. We have noted the Gass Time Dilation Phenomenon - where events that are advertised at, say, 7:30 pm, do not in fact occur until many hours later. A related phenomemon would be the Gass Everlasting Jam, in which a song which is "not long enough" will be repeated ad infinitum or for 4 times its normal length (whichever is greater, and believe me, sometimes it's hard to tell).
I think that what you observed, Scott, was a General Gass Field which was transmitted via the telephone system to knock over the tin of varnish. (It can also cause meals to burn while he's on the phone).
The weekend was pretty good. The Mike Silver concert on Friday could have been better attended, but all in all, it went well....
Cheers
