Area in which plane crashed is a peninsula about 4 blocks wide. Plane was reported to be on fire in the air. Debris from in-air explosion is widely scattered. A house in the middle of impact area is reported still standing while others around it are levelled. Rescue workers reportedly have not been able to get to houses because of fires.

FBI joining investigation. No reports of "congratulatory" communications overseas (terrorists not heard "high-fiving" each other over this). Little or no radio contact reported from plane before crash.
