The DT version has a footnote that says the song won't work at all for Independence Day (substituted in the lyrics for Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day), but I think that all depends on where you live!
Of course, it won't work without a horse and a sleigh, either, and who has them anymore? Sheesh!
