Alison, BTW, the link to the thread posted above will have a link taking you to one of my Gaelic song pages. This one has the song you are looking for.

Note, the older tune is what I sing it to, not the one commonly known as the Eriskay Love Lilt in English.

I unfortunately have no easy way of imparting the tune to you, BUT, I would recommend two artists who sing it in the older fashion

Note, Ishbel sings a few verses that Arthur does not. Arthur ends with the wishful thought that they might yet be married at some point in time. The guy is really smitten. Ishbel sings from the point of view that well, yes, love is fine, but tragedy wins out in the end!

I've had this argument with her over this for years. I don't think either of us will convince the other.

I had the priviledge of hearing Arthur Cormack sing this at a house party after a concert back last month. I was sitting about 3 feet from him. What an awesome voice.
