hi all,the term "franking" usally refers to a mark or stamp or written note on a letter of package indicating postage has been paid (or that it's free). This is done when stamps are unavailable and is quite rarely done today.
One of the most common uses of franking was done during WWII when American servicemen had free postage home and there were not any stamps printed to say so.
