Local doctors say pupils have suffered severe trauma after running a daily gauntlet of intimidation and verbal abuse, as well as coming under attack from a blast bomb, stones and other missiles at various stages of the protest, which has cost more than £3m to police since it started at the end of June.

Jim Potts, spokesman for the loyalist residents, warned they would go back to protesting if the government did not honour its commitments.
