Subject: RE: Dan Milner AKA Liam's Brother's New CD
I got this from Folk Legacy a little over a week ago, as well as Dan's Book, "A Bonnie Bunch of Roses" a few days ago through the Mudcat link with Amazon.Com. I must tell you that both of these are "must owns" for serious 'Catters.

The CD is superb. It has excellent musical selections, Dan's voice is superb, the arrangements are tight, and the instrumentation and harmony are right there, meaning that they have just the right amount of intrumentation. I agree with Art with regard to "The Harp without the Crown". It is destined to become one of my favorites, along with his arrangement of "Row, Bullies, Row". If your only exposure to "Lily of the West" is the Chieftains Long Black Veil arrangement, you should hear Dan's. All in all a marvelous effort by one of our most respected 'Catters. I would rate this CD right up there with Art Theime's, and point out to all of you just how blessed we are to have these gents here with us.

Dan's book, "A Bonnie Bunch of Roses" is a great collection. I have a marvelous of books, but I had never purchased this because I have so much of this music, I didn't feel the need to add another book to the skads I already have. As I became acquainted with Dan and we became 'online friends', I felt I should give the book a look. Imagine my (very pleasurable) surprise when I went through it. It is loaded with a lot of music that I have not heard, exellent notes on the songs, and the selection is exactly the type of thing I enjoy playing in my gigs. Songs tha crowd hasn't heard, but which they will want to hear again. It is a great book, well written and very useful. I would commend it to all.

Congratulations, my friend, for two excellent efforts. Thanks for giving them to us.

All the best,

Mick
