Subject: RE: BS: Alt. contacts for @home Mudcatters
There is a very serious problem/bug (or intentional?) with the new "rogers.com" service in Canada (replacing the former @home service here). And I have been unable to speak with anyone at tech support either via phone or getting a response back from them in e-mail (It's been 5 days since I emailed them.)

Their new e-mail (SMTP) server consistently blocks ANY outgoing email to be sent if the sender's address ends in ANYTHING other than "@rogers.com". (The old mail server made no distinctions who the sender was. It merely provided the "juice" required to send e-mails.) Surely this will be a major problem for those who use email programs which support more than one (differentiating) email address.

In my case, I have a biz website and a domain name and email addresses with that domain name as the suffix. I frequently send biz emails to clients showing my biz email address as the sender, and rely on the SMTP server of my ISP to provide the "juice" (or the SMTP server) for ALL outgoing email. With this new SMTP changerover, I keep getting a Eudora "error 550" telling me that "sending email from is not allowed." Clearly this completely un-acceptable. It is either a bug, or an exclusivity thing wholly arrogant, and my hope is that it will cost the company dearly, in subsribers mass migrating away from Rogers.com.

This stupidity is analagous to my paying the hydro/power bills in my home, and my hydro company has now decided that their policy for all of their subscribers is that only I can turn on or off a light switch or activate any other power source in my home. If any of my family members, relatives or guests that visit me wish to use my hydro (or someone who's identity is not recognizable to them from the given home, they can't turn on or off a light, television, etc...in my home. Only me. Amazing eh?

The instant DSL or ADSL is available in my area, I'm gone from Rogers. Can't get get any response from them which is also typcial. They're also being class action sued big time for failing to deliver on their adverstising promises. They have the worst support I have ever seen and deserve to be shut down. I may very well join the class action suit.
