This is a good site if you don't already have a charity in mind, but if you do, you can always make a contribution to it as a gift to a friend. People often to this for friends who have died, in lieu of sending flowers. If you know of an organization your friend supports, just make a donation in their name and send your friend a card to tell them about it.
