Thread Name: Tune Req: cearcall a chuain
Subject: ADD: Cearcall A' Chuain
I found lyrics here (click), but no sheet music. Note that it's a recent song, not traditional - so you may have to buy the sheet music. Nope - you can find it here (click).

                  Cearcall A' Chuain
                                     1. Tha sinn uile air cuan
                                         Stiùireadh cuairt troimh ar beatha,
                                         A' seòladh geòla dhorch'
Air chall an greim na mara.
Tha a' ghaoth air ar cùl
Tha a gheòl' a' cumail roimhpe
'S cha dèan uair neo an cuan
                                         Tonaisg dhuinn neo rian.

                                   2. A' mhuir the i ciùin,
Tha i fiadhaich, tha i farsaing,
Tha i àluinn, tha i diamhair,
                                       Tha i gamhlasach is domhain.
O, ach sinn, tha sinn dall
                                       'S chaneil againn ach beatha,
Tog an seòl, tog an ràmh,
Gus am faigh sinn astar ann.

                                 3. Ach tha mi'n dùil, tha mi'n dùil,
Nuair a bhios a' ghrian dol fodha,
Chì iad mi a' stiùireadh 'n Iar,
Null a dh' Uibhist air a' chearcall.
                                     Cearcall a' chuain
Gu bràth bidh i a' tionndadh
Leam gu machair geal an Iar,
Far an do thòisich an là.

TRANSLATION:
  1. We are all on the ocean steering a course through our lives, sailing a dark ship, lost in the grip of the sea. The winds push from behind, driving us on and on; neither time passing nor the ocean brings wisdom or order.
  2. The sea , it is calm, it is wild, it is wide, it is beautiful, it is secretive, it is tumultuous, it is deep. But us, we are blind, we have only one life; raise the sail, pull on the oar, let's keep moving onward.
  3. I have the expectation, when the sun goes down, that I'll be steering westwards, with Uist on the horizon. May the circle of the ocean  keep turning for me, until I reach the white sands of the West where the day first began.

This is a fairly recent song, written by Calum and Rory MacDonald of the group RunRig. In this song, they compare our lives to the cycle of the sea.
