To complicate things, there are several different periods of the Oscar Schmidt brand name. Before 1939 there was the Original Oscar Schmidt Company, which made the original Stella, Sovereign, and Galliano guitars, of the types played by Leadbelly, Blind Willie McTell, Barbeque Bob, and countless others in the Blues and Old Time Music areas.
