Fortunato, I was referring to the Bailey Brothers (Charlie and Danny) as distinct from the Bailes Brothers. They once had 2 fine albums on Rounder, but both unfortunately seem to have disappeared entirely with not even cassettes offered: 'Have you forgotten the Bailey Brothers?: The Early Days of Bluegrass Vol 6' Rounder 1018 and The Bailey Brothers and the Happy Valley Boys 'Take me back to happy valley' Rounder 0030. The brothers added bluegrass instumentation (fiddle, banjo and bass) to the brother duet's mandolin and guitar and vocal harmonies, but Charlie played mandolin as a soft back-up lead rather than rhythmic chop.

As youngsters, the brothers learned the old hymn in church and sang it throughout their career. Basically they used the first 2 stanzas and chorus as available on cyber hymnal site, with one voice echoing the other in the chorus.

/Whispering hope

It has always struck me as a particularly lovely rendition of a sacred song and hence my recommendation.

Like yourself, apart from a few scattered tracks, I have little knowledge of the Bailes Brothers (Johnny, Walter, Kyle and Homer).
