Kat---no apologies necessary; we all get a bit whingy around the holidays (at least *I* do!). In so mnay ways it's just a time so fraught with all sorts of emotional stuff that it's a bit of a wonder we survive it more or less intact year after year!

I think about the days when my kids are grown up and independent the same way I do about science fiction: hard to imagine. But I know it does in fact come all too quickly; my eldest son turned 15 in November, and it's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that this large person with the frequently crappy attitude is in fact my baby boy! At the other end, my "real" baby just turned 7, 2 weeks ago, and I'm having much ado to get used to him reading, writing and---yes!---whistling!
