In my position as a caregiver for my mom, Christmas Day is not unlike any other day - or as my friend, David C. puts it so well, "It's just another day that ends in "Y". There are other loved ones with whom I would also like to be spending this day, and knowing that might make the day a rather long one. But it turns out that I am only working a half day today after all. My brother will be visiting briefly - thus affording me an opportunity to be elsewhere.
Here's a tip of the hat and best wishes for all of you, but a special empathy for those of you who fall into the category of "caregivers".
