As the one pediatrician out of ten in town who doesn't "do" Christmas, I always volunteer to be on call. One very sick 2-month-old in the morning and one very sick newborn at 3AM on the 26th....otherwise not much to do but put an icebag on the knee I hurt the day before while trying to keep healthy by running! Both babies are safely ensconced in the Children's hospital in Honolulu (courtesy of the air ambulance and transport team who were also working on Christmas), and most likely will do OK. Happy New Year, everybody! (I'm NOT on call New Year's Eve, but I'm still looking for a date.....!)
