Please go to the other emigration thread and listen to Barry's song. It's a wonderful love poem to an ancestor. Somehow the link locked up the thread, though, and I wanted to post this thought:

There is such a tradition of songs regarding emigration from Ireland and other 'European' countries, but what this song really made me consider was those Haitians who risk ,and often lose, their lives trying to make it here. I could easily hear Barry's song in this context.
