As has been mentioned, this is an integral part of the modern Scandinavian Christmas as well as German. Most Norwegians do not know it was a German production originally and assume automatically that the sketch as produced is well known in the UK as well. Variations of the phrases "Same procedure as last year/same procedure as every year" - in English - are in common usage in everyday Norwegian as a result of this Christmas tradition.
