On touring Germany I came across the Freddie Frinton phenomena (try saying that after a few "prost"s) and was fascinated. He took his name from a British seaside resort, as did Eric Morecambe who's show with Ernie Wise was a regular Xmas Day Brit experience until his death. Now we only have the Queen's speech. I wish someone would switch tapes with that and give Britain Freddy instead!
