That kind of freeze didn't happen every years. Some winters it never got much below freezing. For the ocean to freeze like that you need a succession of very calm days when the tempreature is well below the freezing point of salt water (26 f)

Fortunato I'm writing from Columbus GA. Haven't been bach to The Rock in a while. The Cold, snow, sleet, rain and ice we've been having here made me a little homesick. I may go back there to live when I start to miss my snow shovel.
