For years now I've been attempting to clean up my desk so I can actually use it. But when I pick up a pile of stuff to sort, the only place I can find within reach is the empty spot from which I picked up the pile in the first place. So I put it back down, my spirit broken. Sometimes I give some consideration to the direct approach (a bellow of rage and a mighty sweep of the arm). But if I actually did have a clean and tidy desk, it would clash with the decor of the rest of our apartment.

We got a scanner and a new printer just recently. The new printer went into the spot occupied by the old printer, but excavating a place to put the scanner was a major problem.

Books. We have lots and lots of books, a substantial percentage of which are actually in bookcases. If a wall of the building were to fall out, we probably wouldn't be aware of it.
