Don, I've discovered that the nice thing about a scanner is that it has a flat top, so it doesn't have to entirely replace the pile you moved to make space for it... as long as the pile on top isn't too big, you can still lift the lid to insert the item to be scanned!

Now if I could only separate myself from the old computer which was "replaced" last August, I'd have lots more room to organize the piles on my desk.
