I've mentioned this (reasonably) young Luthier before, but I've just played two more of his amazing creations (that makes five in total) and I'm simply discombobulated at what he's accomplished. Describing their physical appearance would be difficult, but suffice to say, if you need a traditional "look" you ain't gonna be interested in his newest models, but from a sheer 'sound, volume, and presence' point of view these are the finest instruments I've played. Period. The workmanship is superb, and visually.....well you'll have to see for yourself
clickyI'd liken them a bit to the best of the "Macaferri" style guitars, with a huge "voice" but a much more versatile sound. I tried some Merle Travis style, up and down the neck, on the steel string (there's also a classical with a REALLY unusual design) and I've never played faster or cleaner.
They're pricey, but no more so than a quality Taylor, Martin or Collings, and as we know, Luthiers better NOT be in it for the money!I don't have any personal stake in this. I know Allan, but only bump into him once or twice a year.....but....since I love visiting music stores (on the road or in town) and seeing what's new (and old) I've played a great many of the available brands and models. These simply knock me out.
Cheers
Rick
