I'm curious about the Jimmie Rodgers who had a number of folk-style hits in the late fifties and early sixties. He had hits with Honeycomb, Kisses Sweeter than Wine, Bimbombey and performed the theme for The Long Hot Summer and other films. He was probably more popular than any folk-style performers of the time, except perhaps the Kingston Trio, then he suddenly dropped out of sight. I remember hearing a story that he had stopped to help a stranded motorist and had been clubbed, a blow that gave him brain damage and ended his career.

I think he had a terrific voice, even though the songs were a bit on the pop side. Does anyone have any info on him?
