If he had died would anyone have believed the pretzel explanation?

I don't mean to say that it might not in fact be true, but would anyone have actually believed it?

In future I imagine instead of saying teh VP is a heartbeat away from the preidency, thye'll be saying he is a Pretzel away. And the Speaker, isn't it, who's a Pretzel and a heartbeat away?
