We are there to protect, not change the culture, although as a woman I would prefer the latter. At the moment, I think it would be a sign of respect, on her part, to wear it, but I understand her refusal.I remember when I was little, women who attended the Roman Catholic and Episcopal Churches had to wear a hat or some sort of headcovering. I thought it was pretty neat, until I got older and realised it was a symbol of submission, repression, etc.
This is a tough one, imo, because of it being the custom of the country.
