What I used to tell my students (during my brief stint as an instructor) was: "Don't be intimidated by the computer because all it really does is count from zero to one, many many times, really really fast."

(Okay, fellow pedants, I know it should be "really really quickly"!)

Now I look back and am amazed that I was ever a tutor. I knew next-to-nothing about computers, but was leading a class of folks who knew less than that. (Talk about the blind leading the blind!) But those were desperate times that called for desperate measures! As soon as I scrounged up enough work that I didn't have to teach anymore, I was outta there.
