Bill Hill [at least the one I knew] was, I believe, a "Fifer". I think the song to which the first entry refers is " The Swindle o' the Isles", and was more than likely written by Ronnie Browne of the Corries.[I have a cassette with Ronnie's rendition.] Bill was a comedic performer, and was an adept at putting across material like "the Kelty Clippie", etc.. He also had some hilarious monologues, including one in which he had a long telephone harangue with Prince Charles and "Queenie", whom he was inviting to his local "gairdin pairty", and suggesting that she fetch along a "Jaur o' her hame-made jeely". I'd sure like to hear more of Bill----anyone????
