Thread Name: Challenge! Gift for JoeOffer and bride
Subject: RE: Challenge! Gift for JoeOffer and bride
Finally! I've been wrestling with this song idea (not exactly the "mingled threads" idea mentioned) ever since I began this thread, and I think I have it pinned down. I'm new to this puzzle called "song-writing", and my pride in this area is almost nil. So if you have hints on how to make the song clearer or more musical, please tell me.

Even though the wedding is past, I hope it's not to late to hand out the gifts. ;-).

So Here goes:

LIGHTER THAN THE WIND (Tentative title)

A song is lighter than the wind that blows across the sky.
It leaves no furrow in the earth, no monument so high.
And love, they say, is a fleeting thing: a bloom upon the vine.
It grows from youth's own folly and the flowing, sweet, red wine

But when a song is good and true, 'tis stronger than cold steel.
It banishes both grief and woe, the broken heart to heal.
And love is more than the honeyed words, more than the rosy cheek,
and like the fairest rose that blooms, has roots both strong and deep.

The bloom will fade, the vine will live, far stronger than the frost.
It will forever bloom again, when summer comes at last.
And ev'ry song so ethereal comes from one life lived true.
And this sweet love within my heart was born, my dear for you.
