Wyo,RJ plays this in either a flat open A or a sharp open G —— take your pick. I'd opt for the G, coz I don't like tuning higher than standard. Tune (from treble to bass) D - B - G - D - G - D.
That will give you a G maj. in the open position, C maj. barred at the 5th fret and D maj. barred at the 7th fret.
This song, and a lot of other RJ tunes, can be played this way, but they'll have a very different feel if you don't use the slide.
