I watched the program and mostly enjoyed it. I didn't time it but I'm guessing that more than 50% of the time was devoted to commercials. Rather like rock & roll radio that way.Much of the music wasn't actually bluegrass but just some people applying accoustic instruments to whatever genre they were in.
I loved the pieces on instrument making. The banjo making piece was interesting—wonderful fretless banjos—but they kept using the word bluegrass when talking about it. Perhaps they figured the majority of their audience wouldn't know the difference between bluegrass and other forms of accoustic country music. Or perhaps there is a strategy, now that Bill is dead and Ralph doesn't pick his banjo in public, to redefine the term bluegrass so it fits neatly into their commercial model much the way the term country and folk now fit.
