Thread Name: Origins: Who wrote and recorded 'Fan It'
Subject: Lyr Add: FAN IT
I found this song on a 78 record without a label. I'm guessing at the title. It is a western swing band performing on the record I have. It is done very much in the style of what was to become rockabilly albeit with pedal steel. Anyone know who wrote it and what western swing bands recorded it?

FAN IT

If this song's too hot, cool it if you can.
You better go out and get yourself a 5-stick fan
And fan it. (Fan it.) You've got to fan it. (Fan it.)
Won't you fan it and cool it, honey, till the cows come home.

Mama's in the kitchen. I heard the back door slam.
Come out of the kitchen, mama, and quit scorching that pan
And fan it. (Fan it.) You've got to fan it. (Fan it.)
Won't you fan it and cool it, honey, till the cows come home.

And fan it. (Fan it.) You've got to fan it. (Fan it.)
Won't you fan it and cool it, honey, till the cows come home.

I know I'm little and I'm kind of thin,
But I'm a mighty good daddy for the shape I'm in,
And fan it. (Fan it.) You've got to fan it. (Fan it.)
Won't you fan it and cool it, honey, till the cows come home.

Six months in jail, my face to the wall.
Fanning that thing was the cause of it all,
And fan it. (Fan it.) You've got to fan it. (Fan it.)
Won't you fan it and cool it, honey, till the cows come home.
