I think (this is all conjecture, for I am but a poor man) that people who can afford these things fall into 2 categories: The Collector, who will allow a beautiful instrument to "sleep" on the wall, under a case, or behind closed doors...And The Fanatic, the person who mortgages everything they've got to have a shot at owning and playing an Idol's instrument.
