Although I expect the price of hamsters to rise dramaticaly in the next few weeks-I spotted this in the newspaper today
HAMSTER FIGHTS BACK!
Police were today hunting kidnappers who stole a primary school's pet hamster-and demanded a million pounds for its safe return.The gang left a ransom note demandind the cash for the return of Harri the hamster to Corris Primary School in Machynlleth, North Wales.In fact the rodent was left in his cage outside the school, leading staff to believe Harri fought off his attackers.
Headteacher Olwen Griffiths said "Harri does bite if you startle him and there was blood on the cage so maybe he bit whoever was taking him, and it gave them second thoughts"A spokesman for North Wales Police confirmed that scenes of crime officers were combing the area for evidence.He added "We are taking this matter very seriously"
Extra vigilance is obviously advised, I just hope this is not the first of a spate of hamster kidnappings.john
