Thread Name: Lyr/Chords Req: Snake Baked a Hoecake
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: SNAKE BAKED A HOECAKE
This was a little funny rhyme one said to children (trotting them on the knee,or dancing them two-handed about the floor):

Snake baked a hoe-cake
Set a frog to mind it,
Frog got to noddin, and
A lizard come and stold it-
Spoken: BRING BACK MY HOE-CAKE, YOU LONG-TAILED NANNY-O!
Many years ago I did a residency in Fresno State College, and met and made music with the folk group there. Jody was one of them, and I'm pretty sure he must have learned that little poem from me- has he made it into a song?

As to your puzzlement about the Mountain, I guess it would depend upon your starting point whether you go up or down. I believe Ralph Stanley's getting sort of Godly feeling these days- the Bible talks about Moses on the Mount, and then coming down from The Mount, after meeting with God and getting the commandments. Think so?
