Thread Name: Smokers v's Drinkers
Subject: RE: Smokers v's Drinkers
from MY viewpoint moderate drinking is seldom a problem, and has been shown to have 'some' benefits...(I do it myself)...moderate smoking is NEVER good.

in company/public?..I can usually avoid a drinker if I don't like their behavior, but:

"I have never smoked a cigarette and become abusive to anyone"

.......anyone who fills my space with smoke IS being involuntarily abusive to me. Happily, I have lived to see the time when most of the places I go do not allow smoking. (right...that means I must avoid certain bars...or drastically limit my time there)

It is not an easy thing to deal with since smoking was promoted and allowed for so many years and became part of the culture, but I still remember working in a grocery store in the early 1960s and not only having to sweep up butts every day, but endure shoppers blowing smoke in my face as I checked their groceries.

I have VERY seldom had to deal with users of alcohol in public, though I do understand that those who work in bars have quite different experiences, as do those with family members who are addicted.....
